Essex Finals U15 Lady Taverners
The Essex Finals of the U-15 Lady Taverners Competition was held at Hutton CC on Tuesday 31 May. Five teams took part in a round robin competition, with the winners of the group to progress to the Regional Finals of the National Competition.

This was a successful day for Girls Cricket in Essex, with 50 girls taking part in what was a competitive but enjoyable and rewarding days cricket. The overall standard of the cricket played was very good.

The format of the matches was teams of 8-a-side, with each game being 10 overs per innings. Everyone played each other once.

Harold Wood Girls (who were the National Champions 2004) came out on top of the group with 4 wins from 4 matches, followed by the South Essex Girls as runners up with 3 wins and 1 loss.

In what was a closely fought tournament, all the teams won at least one match. Central, North and Wanstead Girls all put up good displays and in the end could not be separated in 3rd place.

  Spirit of the Game

"Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within the Laws, but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to game itself."
