Under 15s Win against Kent
The U-15s started their league campaign in fine style with a victory over Kent at Brookland Cricket Club on Sat 28 May.

Bowling first the girls bowled out Kent for 106 in very windy conditions, not the easiest to bowl in at all. Joanne Cook was the pick of the bowlers taking 6 wickets for 16 runs, but she was well supported by Rachel Barron, Amy Mistry and Dani Armes.

Essex then got the total in 28 overs, with the loss of 3 wickets. Lauren Onojaife was the best batter unluckily falling just short of a well deserved half century for 48. Joanne Cook scored 26 not out and Kara Toleman hit the winning boundary.

Kent 106 all out (31.1 overs)
Joanne Cook 5.1-0-16-6, Rachel Barron 5-2-12-1, Danielle Armes 4-0-11-1

Essex 110-3 (28.4 overs)
Lauren Onojaife 48, Joanne Cook 26 not out

Essex Won by 7 Wickets

  Spirit of the Game

"Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within the Laws, but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to game itself."
