Essex v Hertfordshire U15s

Another comfortable victory for the U-15 girls on Saturday against Herts at Bishops Stortford C.C.

Hertfordshire won the toss and put Essex into bat. The girls then put on a magnificent batting display, with great strokeplay, forming good partnerships and always increasing the run rate throughout the innings to enable them to score 209 for 3 from 35 overs. Kara Tolemon was the highlight scoring 56 not out from just 30 balls, including 12 boundaries. Beth MacGregor scored 33 not out in an unbroken 4th wicket partnership of 74. Dani Armes with 36 and Joanne Cook with 35 also gave excellent contributions to the large total.

Essex then made early inroads into the Herts batting with 2 wickets in the first 3 overs. Bur good batting from Rebecca Witherdon with 52 held Essex up. However the big total was always going to be difficult for Herts to chase and good Essex bowling restricted them to 124 for 7 from their 35 overs. Lily Ainsley the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 12. A win for Essex by 85 runs.

  Spirit of the Game

"Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within the Laws, but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to game itself."
