Schools Coaching Programme
Essex County Cricket Board sends out professional coaches to schools across the county to coach children in blocks of five weeks.
This is open to all Primary, Junior, Secondary and Disabled schools in Essex. Obviously some terms are more popular than others and we allocate coaching on a first come first served basis. To cover the running costs of this scheme the ECCB charge a small fee: rates start at £80 for five one-hour sessions at primary schools.
To include your school in the ECCB Schools Coaching Programme please fill in an application form and send to Sarah Driver, ECCB Administrator at the Ford County Ground.

Essex Cricket in partnership with Competition Managers, School Sports Partnerships and Cricket Clubs in Essex, run the annual ASDA Schools Kwik Cricket Festivals in Essex and Metropolitan London Boroughs for children aged 9-11yrs (school years 5 and 6).
Schools in every school sport partnership (local family of schools) compete against each other at a local level with the aim of being crowned the School Sport Partnership winner. The winning team of each school sport partnership will then qualify for the Essex ASDA Kwik Cricket County final which is held at Billericay Cricket Club on Tuesday 23rd June, starting at 10am.
300 Essex schools are taking part in ASDA Kwik Cricket festivals this year, with 24 schools qualifying for the final. The team that wins the county final will be put through to the ECB Regional Final at Mildenhall and the winners of the Regional Final get put through to National Kwik Cricket Final in July.
ASDA supports the Kwik Cricket throughout the country, and all ASDA stores in Essex will be helping with the events including the final at Billericay CC on the 23rd June, bringing fruit, food and drink for the young players.
We are also running a girls ASDA Kwik Cricket Festival in Essex, with 40 schools taking part – 16 of these schools will come through to the Essex County Final held at the Essex County Cricket Ground on the 1st July.
Young Leaders from SEEVIC College will be supporting the ASDA Kwik Cricket Finals.

Inter Cricket
The ECCB have been running the Inter Cricket competition for around 7/8 years.
There is an U13 boys/mixed, an U13 Girls and U15 Girls competition (the girls competitions are sponsored by Lady Taverners).
Around September time, all secondary schools across Essex and Met Essex are invited to enter the competitions, and given a deadline by which to apply. They are then divided into groups, depending on their areas, and play against each other in a round robin style. The 4 overall winners from each competition progress to the finals, which are held in the Graham Gooch Cricket Centre at The Ford County Ground.
Winners are presented with medals and a trophy; the winners of the two girls' competitions will progress on to the Lady Taverners Regional Finals.

Kwik Cricket
Kwik Cricket is a nationwide competition run for the ECB for Primary schools.
Just as the name suggests Kwik Cricket is quick with a format of eight overs each and teams of eight players, each taking a turn in batting and bowling.
In June Kwik Cricket festivals will be held locally, with the winners going onto a County Final and then Regional and National finals.
Up to 12 festivals are held in Essex each year arranged by the local sports partnerships and ECCB.

School-Club Links Programme
We believe that schools and clubs should work closely together to ensure a clear and smooth pathway for children who wish to take their cricket to the next stage.
Last term, we started up a school-club links programme. All schools undertaking the schools coaching scheme with the ECCB were linked up to their local Focus Club. A club representative is then organised to attend the last one or two sessions at the school to promote the club to the children and to give the children dates/details of club coaching sessions.
This first term was successful with 15 school-club links made and positive feedback received from both clubs and schools. We hope to build on this term by term and eventually secure permanent school-club links between across the county.
