Youth Cricket Coaching in the Community Scheme

The Essex County Cricket Board, in conjunction with the Essex County Cricket Club, is once again offering the services of professional coaches to all Primary and Junior schools in the County. The coaches will visit schools during the academic year, September to July, to organise and run a cricket-coaching course for your pupils.

We have refined the content of our delivery and from September 2005 we are focusing on Fundamental Movement Skills – the ABCs of physical literacy to improve the athletic skills of young people. This enables sessions to take place indoors, with limited room, in the colder months of the year. We will be using striking and field skills to meet the requirements placed on schools to provide athletic skills to young people.

As always the demand for coaching is high and unfortunately we are not always able to accommodate all requests. For those schools that we miss, please ensure you indicate this on your returned booking form and we will try to accommodate you next time.

  Spirit of the Game

"Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within the Laws, but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to game itself."
