ECB Officials Association  (ECBOA)

The ECB has set up an Officials Association to support the development and training of umpires and scorers. It is hoped that the ACU&s will join with the ECBOA to form an all embracing organisation, and a ballot paper has gone out to all ACU&s members and the result should be known by 14th December 2007.

As part of this process the Essex County Cricket Board is currently setting up an Essex Branch of ECBOA, and a committee has been formed to move the process forward. We are anxious for more people to join ECBOA as it will be the way forward for the development of existing umpires and the training of new ones.

Further information on ECBOA can be found by following the link on the home page at www.ecb.co.uk or contact any of the following people who will be happy to assist:-

Whatever the outcome of the ballot of ACU&s the ECBOA and ECCBOA are here to stay and these are the only official associations that will be recognised by ECB and Essex County Cricket Board in the future.

Given the above information please give urgent consideration to joining the new ECB Officials Association.

"Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within the Laws, but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to game itself."
