Long Service Awards

The Essex County Cricket Board would like to recognise long honorary service to club cricket.

Affiliated Clubs are invited to nominate someone from their club who fulfils the following criteria:

At least 25 years consecutive service to your club as a senior honorary officer (President, Chairman, Secretary, Fixtures Secretary, Treasurer, Colts Organiser, Ground Manager, etc).

Umpires and Scorers can be nominated if they are club members even though the former may now serve on panels.

A combination of offices can count provided that the service to the club is unbroken.

Those who are already Life Vice Presidents of the Essex County Cricket Board cannot be nominated.

Only one nomination per club will be allowed each year.

The nomination should be on the form which should be returned by Friday, 11th July 2008. The nominations will be considered by the Services Working Group of the Essex County Cricket Board Cricket Committee.

Those who are selected for the award will receive a suitable memento and will be invited to attend a day’s County Championship Cricket at Essex County Cricket Club.

  Spirit of the Game

"Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within the Laws, but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to game itself."
